Since our last writing, we have had a few changes in our lives.  September 1st, Bob changed job positions.  He moved from Barn Manager to the position of Assistant Director.  He still continues to help with the preparations for the rental groups.  He has been doing a lot of master planning drawings.  He has been helping Ted with many different projects this fall and winter.

This fall and winter, camp had one junior snow camp and two teen winter retreats.  At the junior camp, we had over 100 campers.  At the teen retreats, we had about 40 campers!  Our Lakeside Program Director has been working on a new ministry to one of the villages across Kachemak Bay.  Once a month, some of the guys from camp fly to the village of Nanwalek and do a weekend camp.  Several of the kids will be attending camp this summer as a result of the winter camps.  God is truly starting to open some doors in the villages.

In May, Bob traveled to Fairbanks to do a CHA horse clinic at Camp Li-Wa.  He had a great clinic teaching 5 new people how to be better horse instructors.

Teressa was kept busy this fall teaching a Beth Moore class on Esther.  What an awesome study!  Not much has changed in the office.  She is still working with summer camp registrations and the guest groups.

She is preparing lessons to use at a Wagon Train camp later in July.  Besides life at camp, we have been busy in the garden, both vegetable and flower gardens, and the grandkids.  Trent turned 6 in May and Samantha turned 4 in June.

Praises:

  1. Safety of another winter at camp
  2. We had many kids who attended camps this winter.
  3. There were many campers who have faithfully kept up with their follow-up Bible studies.  There have been several who have come to know the Lord as a result of doing the Bible studies.
  4. For God’s provisions in everyday life.

Prayer requests:

  1. Wisdom and guidance as we prepare for our furlough this fall.
  2. Finances for our travels this fall.
  3. Safety as we travel this fall.
  4. Prayer for the campers who are attending camp this summer.

Thank you for your faithfulness in your prayers and financial support for our ministry here at Solid Rock Bible Camp.

Love in Christ,
Bob and Teressa Minnich

The summer months are upon us, and with the longer days and (slightly) warmer weather comes a flurry of activity in our own ministry as well in our community in general.  Here is an overview of some of what is happening in our lives and ministry.

Many of you probably already know that Marcia is expecting our third child, due in mid-October.  Please pray for her, that the Lord would grant her strength and good health for last 17 weeks or so of her pregnancy.  We have a few different visitors coming through this summer, along with all of our normal activities, so she will be playing the role of hostess along with that of wife, mother, missionary, etc.

The next big event for us is the Abergele Carnival, to be held on Saturday, July 3rd.  The carnival was cancelled last summer, so this will be our first time experiencing this event.  We plan to reserve a space at the carnival – held in our town’s main park – to host some children’s games as well as set up a literature table.  Please pray that this outreach would be effective in building contacts for further ministry.

We are also planning once again to hold a five-day holiday club in late August.  We are still trying to secure a venue for this event so we can finalize dates and times.  However, we are hoping to hold the club the week of August 16thPlease pray that people in our church will support this ministry and that it would draw many children.

The nicer weather has opened an increasing number of opportunities to meet and greet people in our neighborhood.  Pray that Lord would help up us to be salt and light among our neighbors for the sake for the sake of the gospel.

We are thankful for your prayers for us here in North Wales.  We believe that the Lord will answer!

Sincerely,
The McLeans – Steve, Marcia, Maggie, and Gwyneth

Keep up with the McLeans on there blog!

On Sundays we are through the Sermon on the Mount. This past Sunday Sid dealt with one of the beatitudes – blessed are they that mourn, for they shall receive comfort. We had two people come forward and asked God for forgiveness for some sins in their lives. Praise the Lord for the Holy Spirit’s convicting power.

This Saturday the entire church will go out to the country to a property owned by one of the members. We plan on having some good food, playing games, petting some cows, building a camp fire and giving a challenge out of God’s word. Pray for our safety and that the Lord would bless our time together in a special way. Pray that this will contribute to the bonding of the people of our church.

Just this last Sunday we invited a new couple over to our home for Sunday lunch. They have visited about three or four times and seem to have had some exposure to the Bible in the past. He is a chef and she is a psychologist. They have a two year old boy who loved our dog. Pray that they would allow us to help them increase in their knowledge of the Lord and that they would be true followers of Jesus Christ.

A lady that has been coming recently is hungry for the word. She listens intently to the preaching and doesn’t miss a word. Recently she has been reading through the bible on her own. She was all the way into I Samuel when she asked Sid, “Who is Jehovah?” It turned out to be a great opportunity to explain about the Bible’s teaching of one God in three persons. Pray that she will continue to grow in her understanding and that she would come to make a decision of following Christ completely.

Our children are growing and are all in good health by God’s grace. Susie and the children are taking a rest from home-schooling but she stays busy with the ladies of the church while the children stay occupied by helping in the ministry as well. Do ask the Lord to give us discernment about furlough. April this year marked four years since we left the States and so are due for a return. But with no one yet to fill in for Sid, we don’t believe the Lord would have us return just yet. Knowing that our Lord is perfect in all his ways, we look forward to the way that He will provide for this need.
