Let God be Magnified

globe“Missions Moments” is a weekly blog of updates and letters from our missionaries serving the Lord around the world. It is our desire that the work of the Lord through missions would continue to flourish, and one of the primary means by which believers can become involved in world missions is through prayer. Many of our missionaries send email updates regarding the work the Lord is doing through their ministries, and when possible, we would like to share what God is doing through His choice servants. Remember to always keep our missionaries in your prayers, and we will praise the Lord with you when the Lord answers prayer in ways we never thought possible!

This month marks a change from Good News Clubs to Good News Camp as we find ourselves finishing up in the schools and turning our focus to preparations for summer.  We praise God for a successful year of school clubs.  Every school in Franklin and Fulton counties now has a Good News Club that meets either during or after school.   We’re so thankful for the volunteers that gave of their time and talents all year to make this possible. Camp will begin on June 14 and we will have twelve weeks again this year.  There will be eight weeks in Waynesboro and one week each in Path Valley, Orrstown, Needmore, and McConnellsburg.  Throughout April and May we will be recruiting and scheduling teachers, junior counselors, helpers, missionaries, nurses, and lifeguards.  If you or someone you know... Read this Post →

Dear Friends in Christ It is a delight to be able to come your way again via the mail. Please forgive us for the long delay in writing. We bring you a belated new year greetings and thank you so much for your faithfulness in praying for us and supporting us to carry out God’s work in this part of his vineyard—Ghana, West Africa. A Vehicle for the Family: We praise the Lord for providing a new car for our family use. Of course with the Mission’s vehicle still in the garage, this will be used for the ministry as well. We still owe some money to pay it off. We have up to the end of June to settle the balance. Please pray that the Lord will provide this amount. MINISTRY NEWS Our entire family attended two Youth Camps in the month of August in Tema and Cape Coast respectively. Vera and Gideon... Read this Post →

“Awesome!”  “Blessed of God.”  “I don’t want to leave and go home.”  These and similar remarks were made by the short-term missions team that went to Lima, Peru, from January 22 to January 31.  The trip was sponsored by the Fellowship of Bible Churches and consisted of 13 members led by missionaries, John and Melissa Miller, serving with Churches in Missions.  The other team members were:  Marvin and Mae Lease, Chestnut Grove; Jim and Tristan Walter, Hagerstown Bible; Ben Fisler and Sara Cook, Chambersburg Bible; and Jeremiah and Micah Gayman, Dorlene Lyons, and Pastor Herm and Carole Fisler, Grace Bible. The purpose of this mission experience was two-fold—to help Peruvian Christians improve their church buildings by painting and to have an outreach in their community... Read this Post →

We just completed our second trip out West with meetings in Iowa and Colorado. We are exhausted, having dealt with both cold and stomach bugs, but we are grateful for the many opportunities we had to serve our great God. What a joy it is to preach God’s Word and see the Spirit of God using His Word to transform people. Our ministry right now is among God’s people in the United States, but we anticipate commencing our ministry in the Netherlands this year. We praise the Lord for the continued increase in our support as we now have nearly 65% of our financial needs. As the economy slowly recovers from the recession, please pray with us for the remaining churches to join our support team by faith. We are praying that the Lord will enable us to leave for the Netherlands by the end of this summer.... Read this Post →

Come over into Macedonia and help us . . . We got that call from the Philippines back in 2000 and several times since, but have always been “hindered” in going. Now God has opened the door and Ruby and l will fly in April and minister there through the first week in May. We will appreciate your fervent prayers for we have a rather Olympian schedule. Some of the opportunities we will have include the Maximum Security Prison in Manila, where I will speak to graduates of our Source of Light school inside the prison – what a blessing! We will also have several opportunities to minister to both police and the military. ln addition, we will conduct a total of four WWBI Training Seminars in different sections of the islands to equip our brothers there to set up Bible lnstitutes for... Read this Post →

The Fellowship of Bible Churches is sponsoring a missions trip to Peru, South America in the last week of January 2010, led by Pastor John Miller. Pastor Ben Fisler will be traveling with the team to serve the Lord in Peru while representing the Chambersburg Bible Church. This opportunity will present much needed support to the national church leaders in Peru while ministering to the youth and other believers in local churches. Evangelizing the lost is also a critical component of the trip, as the team seeks to fulfill the great commission as commanded by our Lord in Matthew 28:16-20. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe... Read this Post →

Dear Co-laborers, While our hearts break for all the loss and calamities in Haiti, we are thrilled at the way the Lord’s people, churches and individuals stand behind us and are trying to do all they can to assist us. What a comfort it is to us to have the whole IPM body (our mission board) mobilized for the cause of Haiti and the Sauls. We highly appreciate those who have called, emailed, are praying, giving, and offering their help. We regret that we are unable to reply to all the emails. Some thank you letters to churches and individuals whom we visited during our last trip to the US are long overdue and we apologize. May God show His goodness to you as you show yours to men that they might glorify Him. Thank you for all your prayers, your concern, and all you are doing to help us and... Read this Post →

Thank you for your prayers for our Christmas outreaches. We had visitors at all of our events and we are so thankful for these opportunities. SNOW! Our girls had a great time in the recent snowy weather building snowmen and making snow angels. We are also grateful for the opportunity to meet several of our neighbors and their children who also were outside to enjoy the snow. OUTREACH We began our Coffee Morning with few visitors but attracted a pretty full house by the end. We handed out invitations to our special Christmas services. For our Carol Service, we were thankful to see a good number of visitors, including our new neighbors and a shopkeeper friend of ours. Steve preached a short gospel sermon, and several stayed for tea and mince pies afterward. Our Christmas Day service... Read this Post →
