This month marks a change from Good News Clubs to Good News Camp as we find ourselves finishing up in the schools and turning our focus to preparations for summer. We praise God for a successful year of school clubs. Every school in Franklin and Fulton counties now has a Good News Club that meets either during or after school. We’re so thankful for the volunteers that gave of their time and talents all year to make this possible.
Camp will begin on June 14 and we will have twelve weeks again this year. There will be eight weeks in Waynesboro and one week each in Path Valley, Orrstown, Needmore, and McConnellsburg. Throughout April and May we will be recruiting and scheduling teachers, junior counselors, helpers, missionaries, nurses, and lifeguards. Also, if you know a child in grades K-6 who might like to attend camp, you can download a registration at www.goodnewscamp.com. At $38.00 per week, camp is still very affordable for most families.
Of course, we are all still grieving the loss of Dr. Teeter. We will miss him so much during the summer months. Camp won’t be the same without him there to drive the tractor, interact with the campers, and encourage the staff. Please continue to pray for his wife and family.
On a personal note, our family is doing well. We just celebrated the one-year anniversary of being in the house that God provided for us. Our kids have been busy with school events. Cora qualified for the regional spelling bee, math olympics, and National History Day. Caleb made it to the district spelling bee and also participated in math olympics. He is busy working on science fair now. Jacob did math Olympics for the first time this year and is playing soccer on a school team. Olivia is also playing soccer and is excited about an upcoming field trip to Renfrew Park. Dan and I are keeping busy keeping up with all of them and are enjoying every moment of the ministry of CEF.
