Let God be Magnified

BibleWe believe that continued scriptural learning is necessary for believers of all ages to “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:182 Peter 3:18
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
). Paul encourages us to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12Philippians 2:12
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
), indicating that the process of continued sanctification (not salvation) requires conscientious work, and attentive effort. What better ministry exists for the teaching and discussing of the Word of God in an educational setting than the Sunday School program?

At Chambersburg Bible Church, we offer both children and adult Sunday School programs, since our obligation to sanctification is not bound by age! All Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 AM in the respective classrooms.

Children’s Sunday School

These classes provide an environment for children ranging from toddlers to teenagers to learn from the Word of God and study topics, lessons, and truths relevant to their sanctification. One of the critical aspects of the children’s Sunday School program is the message of God’s love, salvation, and how we ought to live and grow to walk with Jesus every day. The curriculum varies by age group, but includes quarterly selections fromScripture Press, Baptist Press, and the Youth Pastor’s own materials.

Adult Sunday School

At Chambersburg Bible Church, we offer an adult program focused on varying age groups, from teens, young adults, ladies, general adults groups, and senior citizens. The ministry of the word is presented in a more informal setting, much like a class room, to encourage questions and discussion around the Word of God. Our current adult class offerings are as follows:

  • Young Adults
    • “Going Public With Your Faith,” a practical study from the Word of God geared towards challenging believers to live the Christian life every day, all day. Reaching the lost in our workplace requires a strong testimony for Christ, a heart of compassion, and a desire to win the lost for Christ. The setting for this class is geared towards discussion and sharing experiences to encourage each other to follow the Lord’s command to share the good news. This class meets in a large room in the Sunday School wing at 9:30 AM and is led by Jesse Hauger.
  • Ladies
    • “Pursuing Godliness,” a study from I Timothy based on a book written by Elizabeth George. This is a ladies class and meets in a room in the Sunday School wing at 9:30 AM. The class is led by Pat Shatzer.
  • Senior Saints
    • The “Bereans” class is targeted primarily for Senior Saints, and is verse-by-verse study through the scriptures. The current focus of the study is in the book of Jeremiah.  The Bereans class meets in the chapel at 9:30 AM and is taught by Rod Shatzer
  • General Adult Session
    • “The Beatitudes,” a study from the gospel of Matthew dealing with the Christian life and understanding and applying the beatitudes. This class is the highly attended general adult session and meets in the auditorium at 9:30 AM. The class is primarily taught by Pastor Yoder.

We hope you and your family will join us for this critical family ministry each week!
