In continuation of last week’s study in Psalm 63, we again recall that David wrote this Psalm during his time of trial in the wilderness fleeing for his life from his own son, Absolom. Through David’s hearfelt words, we can learn that the best remedy for discouragement in our lives is to count the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us throughout our walk with him.
David remembered God’s bountiful blessings in his life, and even realized God’s blessing in his current time of trial in the wilderness. Just as God was with David, He will never leave us or forsake us, especially in times of difficulty. God is faithful!
David again draws the analogy of the Lord’s protection and watchcare for his children to the mother hen who shields her young with her wings. God draws us “under his wings” in times of danger and difficulty, it is up to us to trust in him and stay close to his side!
