Let God be Magnified

We believe that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God” by which we understand the whole Bible is inspired in the sense that holy men of God “were moved by the Holy Spirit” to write the very words of Scripture. We believe that this divine inspiration extends equally and fully to all parts of the writings—historical, poetical, doctrinal, and prophetical as they appeared in the original manuscripts. We believe that all Scripture centers about the Lord Jesus Christ in His person and work, in His first and second coming, and hence that no portion, even of the Old Testament, is properly read or understood until it leads to Him. We also believe that all Scriptures were designed for our practical instruction. 2 Timothy 3:16-172 Timothy 3:16-17

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Eternal Son of God, that in His first advent to earth He was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. This means we believe in the absolute Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His perfect humanity, and that as such it was impossible for our Lord to have sinned. Luke 1:30-35Luke 1:30-35

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but spiritual death as well which is separation from God; that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and, in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word, and deed. We believe that all men are totally depraved and that salvation for any is wholly and solely of grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, in virtue of His redemptive work on the cross; and that neither baptism nor observance of the Lord’s supper, nor any rite, ceremony, nor work can avail any merit for a sinner’s salvation. We believe that divine, enabling gifts for service are bestowed by the Holy Spirit upon all who are saved. While there is a diversity of gifts, each believer is energized by the same Holy Spirit, and each is called to his own divinely appointed service as the Spirit may will. In the apostolic church there were certain gifted men, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers— who were appointed by God for the perfecting of the saints unto their work of the ministry. We believe also that today some men are especially called of God to be evangelists, pastors and teachers, and that it is to the fulfilling of His will and to His eternal glory that these be sustained and encouraged in their service for God. We believe that, wholly apart from salvation benefits which are bestowed equally upon all believers, rewards are promised according to the faithfulness of each believer to His Lord, and that these rewards will be bestowed at the judgment seat of Christ after He comes to receive His own to Himself. 1 Peter 5:41 Peter 5:4

Doth God take care for oxen? 10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. 11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? 12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. 13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? live: or, feed 14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. 2 1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: enticing: or, persuasible 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. stand: Gr. be 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. judgeth: or, discerneth judged: or, discerned 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? We believe that because of the eternal purpose of God toward the objects of His love, because of His freedom to exercise grace toward the meritless on the ground of the propitiatory blood of Christ, because of the prayer of the Son of God while here on earth, because of the verity of the divine gift of eternal life, because of the present and unending intercession and advocacy of Christ in heaven, because of the immutability of the unchanging covenants of God, because of the regenerating and abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of all who are saved, all true believers everywhere, once saved shall be kept saved forever. We believe, however, that God is a Holy and righteous Father, and that since He cannot overlook the sin of His children, He will when they persistently sin, chasten them and correct them in infinite love; but having undertaken to save them and keep them forever apart from all human merit, He who cannot fail will in the end present everyone of them faultless before the presence of His glory and conformed to the image of His Son. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
