The summer has come to an end, and it is time to get out and enjoy the cooling temperatures in the Cumberland Valley… with a little golf in October! The annual CBC Open will be held on October 8, 2011r 8, 2011
at the Caledonia Golf Club in Fayetteville and presents an opportunity to invite a friend for a day of golf. This outing is an outreach ministry involving a great outdoor pastime, cookout food, prizes, and a challenge from God’s Word.
The tournament will feature the “Texas Scramble” format, which is a derivative of the traditional scramble format. This format allows foursomes to choose the most advantageous ball for the next shot after all four players have taken their shot. All four players then place their ball in the spot of this selection and shoot again until the ball is holed. The difference in the “Texas Scramble” is that each foursome must use four drives from every player in the course of the round.
The winning foursome will receive the CBC Open Championship Prize, and other players may win prizes for various competitions during the tournament, such as the closest to the pin, longest drive, worst golf outfit, and worst golf score.
Mark your calendar, break out the clubs, hit a driving range, and get your foursome signed up for this year’s tournament! For more details, check the signup sheet on the church bulletin board or contact the church!
