In continuation of last week’s study in Psalm 63, we again recall that David wrote this Psalm during his time of trial in the wilderness fleeing for his life from his own son, Absolom. Through David’s hearfelt words, we can learn that the best remedy for discouragement in our lives is to count the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us throughout our walk with him.

David remembered God’s bountiful blessings in his life, and even realized God’s blessing in his current time of trial in the wilderness. Just as God was with David, He will never leave us or forsake us, especially in times of difficulty. God is faithful!

David again draws the analogy of the Lord’s protection and watchcare for his children to the mother hen who shields her young with her wings. God draws us “under his wings” in times of danger and difficulty, it is up to us to trust in him and stay close to his side! Pastor referenced the following similar texts to elaborate upon this truth:

  • Ruth 2:12Ruth 2:12
12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
  • Psalm 17:8Psalm 17:8
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
  • Psalm 36:7Psalm 36:7
7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. excellent: Heb. precious
  • Psalm 57:1Psalm 57:1
57 To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave. Altaschith: or, Destroy not 1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
  • Psalm 61:4Psalm 61:4
4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. trust: or, make my refuge
  • Psalm 91:1,4Psalm 91:1,4
91 1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. abide: Heb. lodge 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

chiliOne of the festivities during the 30th Anniversary Celebration at Camp Tohiglo this year was the annual Chili Cook-Off on October 10th. The competition was open to groups from all of the churches in the Fellowship of Bible Churches. Judging for the chili was based on flavor and originality, and consisted of a general ballot vote from all who were interested in tasting the chili.

Nine groups from FBC churches entered the competition this year, and for the second straight year, a group of Chambersburg Bible Church teens won the first place prize for their award-winning chili! This year’s team was led by Abby Mohler & Zachery Sleichter, with the support of Velvet Houser, Sara Cook, and Pastor Ben Fisler. The youth edged close second and third place teams from Berean Bible Fellowship, perhaps setting up an exciting rematch for next year!

Congratulations to the CBC Youth!

Thanks so much for your prayers and support. August was a very busy month. We held one week of revival service at Solid Rock Baptist Church of Tema. We praise God for three hundred that attended. A few souls got saved with many re-dedications.

Vera and the children attended a youth camp for a week. Vera and Gideon served as counselors while Miriam and Martha went as campers. Prior to that we attended another Youth conference for three days. Both Vera and myself were speakers.

We reopened our Bible College on 21st of August. We received five new students this year including our first female student! Vera felt that since we live on campus, she would take advantage to study so she could teach and counsel better, so she enrolled and became our first female student. She is still working with the youth and Choir at the Tema Church. Please pray with her for this new challenge. Miriam and Martha have both gone back to school. Pray for Gideon as he is still working on his dissertation to complete his college work.

My work load at the Bible College has increased from six hours a week to fifteen per week. I am standing in for my associate, who is now on deputation. I teach Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I am also supervising several of the project works of the degree students. This is in addition to all my other ministerial duties. Last Sunday Vera and I were called to some Church members home to help deal with a problem after the evening service. We left their home close to midnight, and then drove an hour and half to our home. We were exhausted but happy that we had helped save one home from falling apart. I enjoy the challenge, but I need the Lord’s strength and wisdom to apportion my time well. I will appreciate your prayers.

Our Radio ministry entered its fourth month, and is touching homes and individuals. Pray with us to be able to get sponsorship for this new ministry so it could be sustained. Please continue to pray, also, for our need for a strong family vehicle. We need four thousand dollars, to be able to meet this need. Thanks so much for your prayers and for your support. May the Lord bless you in manifolds!

Gratefully, Yours in His Service,
George A. Dapaah
