Coming Again in 2010?

As we move into the beautiful autumn days of October, we see the fields being harvested. What a wonderful blessing that God gives us opportunities for harvesting souls for Him throughout the year. Here in Franklin-Fulton counties we have already seen an excellent harvest with the Good News Camp Program. There were ONE HUNDRED FIFTY SEVEN decisions for Christ made during Good News Camp 2009. All children who attended heard the Gospel and many responded by believing in Jesus to be their Savior, to save them from their sin. During this month of October, our Good News Clubs began full-force in churches, homes, and schools. Please pray that God will bless this ministry with a bountiful harvest all through the year. We praise God for providing open doors and willing workers to reach the children. Thank you for your continued support. You are God’s tangible provision. We are so grateful for you. EVEN SO IT IS NOT THE WILL OF YOUR FATHER, WHICH IS IN HEAVEN, THAT ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES SHOULD PERISH (MATTHEW 18:14MATTHEW 18:14
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

I love this time of year because of the changes it brings, and the character trait I love most about our God is the fact that He does not change. Looking back at His holiness, His grace, His mercy, His love, His wrath, His justice, and His promises would not be nearly as valuable if we had to wonder whether or not that’s still who He is today. So look back. But when you do, don’t get stuck longing for the way things used to be back then or wishing you could go back and do something differently. lnstead, get stuck on the fact that everything you find about God in the past is true in the present. Relish in that fact.

Here at lPM, we constantly find ourselves going back to the past for the purpose of seeking God’s wisdom and claiming His promises. Over and over again, He has proven to us that He’s the same God today that He was when He inspired men to record His words. I trust He has proven the same to you. lf not, that’s because you aren’t putting Him to the test. Go ahead. Place all your faith and dependence upon the past character and promises of God, and watch Him show you that He’s the same NOW.

This week, Pastor provided a brief study on the structure of the book of Psalms….

There are 150 Psalms, of which many are gathered into collections:

  • The Davidic Psalms (3-41, 51-72, 108-110, 138-145)
  • Psalms of the Sons of Korah (42-49, 84, 85, 87, 88)
  • The Psalms of Asaph (50, 73-83)
  • Songs of Ascents (120-134)
  • Elohistic Psalter – A collection of collections (42-83)

In the Elohistic Psalter, God is usually referred to as ‘Elohim’ (Hebrew), but in other Psalms, God is normally referred to as ‘Yahweh.’

The book of Psalms in the Hebrew Bible is divided into 5 books. Each book corresponds to the divisions of the Books of Moses:

  • Book 1 (1-41), Genesis
  • Book 2 (42-72), Exodus
  • Book 3 (73-84),Leviticus
  • Book 4 (90-106), Numbers
  • Book 5 (107-150), Deuteronomy.

The 1st Psalm of each section sets the stage for the Book and the closing Psalm of each is a doxology or hymn of praise
