The Annual Fall Missions Conference is upon us again, and our theme the year is “For the Sake of His Name.” The theme reflects the truth that while there are several legitimate motivations for missions work, our greatest motivation should be that as souls are saved, the name of Jesus Christ is glorified. In Ephesians 1:12, the apostle Paul says, “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.” Join us each session of our missions conference. The summer has come to an end, and it is time to get out and enjoy the cooling temperatures in the Cumberland Valley… with a little golf in October! The annual CBC Open will be held on October 8, 2011 at the Caledonia Golf Club in Fayetteville and presents an opportunity to invite a friend for a day of golf. This outing is an outreach ministry involving a great outdoor pastime, cookout food, prizes, and a challenge from God’s Word. The tournament will feature the “Texas Scramble” format, which is a derivative of the traditional scramble format. This format allows foursomes to choose the most advantageous ball for the next shot after all four players have taken their shot. On Saturday, September 3rd, we had the privilege of hosting the ordination council for Pastor Jeffrey Scott Kliewer. Nine men sat on the council and listened to Pastor Kliewer present his doctrinal statement and answer questions regarding his affirmations of the Faith. A unanimous decision was made to officially ordain Pastor Kliewer to the gospel ministry on Sunday, September 4th, 2011. In the special service on Sunday Morning, we were blessed to hear musical specials, a charge to Pastor Kliewer to be faithful in the ministry, and a separate charge to the church family to be faithful in supporting their pastors.
